Good Evening Meadow Lane families…this is Ryan Knippelmeyer, Meadow Lane Elementary School principal, with some important information to share with you.

First, a reminder that tomorrow night, Oct. 21st, is our PTA family movie night at Meadow Lane Elementary. This event will take place at Meadow Lane Elementary School with the showing of two movies, Spooky Buddies and Rio. We will be using the lunchroom and the gym to show the movies. If Meadow Lane students are planning to attend, they must be accompanied by an adult. If they do not have an adult with them, they will not be allowed to enter and watch the movie. The doors will open at 5:30 and concession stand refreshments, such as hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, and other various snacks will be available beginning at 5:30. Both movies will begin at 6:00. We look forward to an exciting evening with students and families.

Also, next week, Monday Oct. 24th – Friday Oct. 28th we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week here at school. During the week we will be talking about living a healthy lifestyle and staying away from things that can hurt our body. We would like to promote school unity by wearing a designated color each day. On Monday please have your children wear Meadow Lane colors, Tuesday -white, Wednesday – blue, Thursday – black, and Friday- red. Thank you for your help as we promote Red Ribbon Week.

Lastly, this is a reminder that next Tuesday, Oct. 25 is a PLC day. All Kindergarten – 5th grade students will be dismissed at 2:18 pm, so teachers can work in their PLC groups. There will be no Excite classes that day.

Thank you for your continued support of Meadow Lane Elementary. Have a great evening.

Good Evening Meadow Lane families…this is Ryan Knippelmeyer, Meadow Lane Elementary School principal, with some important information to share with you.

First, this is an important message regarding students who do not have a record of a second varicella immunization on file in our health office. Varicella is the immunization to prevent chicken pox. 4th and 5th grade students who do not have a record of a second varicella immunization received a yellow parent letter today in their Wednesday Folders. Please check with your student or in their backpack to see if they received a letter. Parents of students who received a letter today, and parents of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students who were previously contacted by the school nurse regarding their child’s varicella immunizations need to return documentation of a second immunization to the health office as soon as possible. If your child has not had a second varicella immunization, please schedule it promptly and phone that date in to the health office so that your student may continue to attend school. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call the Meadow Lane Health Office at 436-1151.

Also, this Friday is a Spirit Day and Popcorn Friday. Students may buy a bag of popcorn for $.25 and we are also promoting Meadow Lane school spirit by having a silly sock day. Students may wear their silliest socks to school on Friday!

If you have questions or comments that I may assist you with, please don’t hesitate to give me a call, email, or stop by the school at any time.

Thank you and have a great evening.

First, next Tuesday, September 27, is a PLC day. All Kindergarten – 5th grade students will be dismissed at 2:18 pm, so teachers can work in their PLC groups. There will be no Excite classes that day.

Dear Meadow Lane Families,

This is Mrs. Tyler, Kindergarten Teacher at Meadow Lane Elementary. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 1st! Lincoln Public Schools students, families, and staff are taking part in district wide “StudentServe” Community Projects. Meadow Lane families will be working together at our school on October 1, 2011 from 9 am-11am and 1pm -3pm. Our events for that day will be to clean up our school grounds, playgrounds, and courtyards. Students, families, and staff will be planting perennials, putting down mulch, pulling weeds, raking leaves and picking up litter.

We are hoping that families will sign up on-line and volunteer some time for this district wide event.

1. Before you can sign up your child (family), you need to call Meadow Lane and get your child’s ID number and password. (402-436-1151.)

2. Then you can sign up by going to http://studentserve.lps.org and clicking on the student link.

3. Then click on event sign up. This will take you to the screen with all the events in the LPS district.

4. Scroll down to Meadow Lane Elementary School’s events and click the box next to the project your family wants to help with.

5. Finally, scroll down to click submit registration.

Please remember that if your child is signing up to volunteer, a parent or guardian needs to commit to participating as well. Each student volunteer needs to have an adult with them.

Your participation will be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you on Saturday, October 1st!

Also, a reminder from our Meadow Lane PTA. Our cookie dough fundraiser concludes tomorrow. Please remember to send your cookie dough orders to school on Friday, September 23. Thank you for supporting our Meadow Lane PTA!

Good Evening Meadow Lane families…this is Ryan Knippelmeyer, Meadow Lane Elementary School principal, with some important information to share with you.

First, next Tuesday, August 30, is a PLC day. All Kindergarten – 5th grade students will be dismissed at 2:18 pm, so teachers can work in their PLC groups. There will be no Excite classes that day.

Second, as you probably have noticed, the crosswalk on the south side of our building is moving. The tentative plan is for this new crosswalk to take effect sometime this upcoming week. We will take extra precautions to make sure our students are safe when transitioning to this new crosswalk. Please talk to your children about safety if they use this crosswalk to cross Vine Street everyday. Thank You for your help!

Please mark your calendar for Thursday, September 8. The Hy-Vee on 84th and Holdrege is holding it’s 1st annual Meadow Lane Mustangs appreciation night. If you’re not in the mood to cook dinner on this night, stop by the food court at Hy-Vee. It will be decorated in Meadow Lane colors and food specials will be available from 5:00–7:00 pm. A portion of all proceeds from the food court will go back to Meadow Lane Elementary on this night…so please invite family and friends. Live music will be performed by Levi William from 5:30 – 6:30 and trivial games and prizes will be provided from 5-7.

Also, thank you for your cooperation when using the parking lot during drop off and pick up times at school. Please use the parking stalls if you plan to walk your child into the building. Please do not park your cars along the curb in front of the building between 8:30-9:00 and 3:30-4:00. This area is designated for buses during this time.

Lastly, Friday, September 2 is Popcorn Friday and our first Spirit Day. Students will have the opportunity to buy a bag of popcorn for $.25. We are also going to have a Husker Spirit Day in recognition of the first Nebraska football game. We will encourage students to wear Husker clothing or something red on this Friday.

Thank you for helping make this a great start to the 2011-12 school year. We are excited about all the opportunities this school year holds.

You are always welcome at Meadow Lane. Please stop by anytime!
